THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
A New Space for Spark This Fall! ✨
It’s been a busy summer of renovations at Spark Youth Centre, and we’re so excited to share what’s been happening behind the scenes!
This project has been made possible thanks to the Columbia Basin Trust Smart Grant, along with support from BC Hydro Electrical Infrastructure Incentive Funding, RDEK REDI Grants, @WesternFinancialGroup Community Infrastructure Grant, City of Kimberley Projects Grant, Kootenay Savings Community Foundation Grant, Teck Community Investment Funding, Kimberley Elks and the RCR Community Summit Fund.
We also want to send a huge Thank You to the incredible local contractors and suppliers who put in so much hard work, helped us stay on budget, and generously provided discounts:
Elite Mechanical • High R Insulation • Denzien • Highwood Homes • Robinson Fine Finishing • Talos Drywall • LX Electric • Mardis Forest Products Ltd. • Skookum Plumbing • Sundance Window and Doors
The project involved a comprehensive energy retrofit of our ~3,000 sq ft building. With upgrades including:
🔹 Increased wall and ceiling insulation
🔹 Improved air sealing
🔹 Furnace, ducting and domestic hot water tank upgrades
🔹 New LED lighting and electrical upgrades
🔹 A modern heat pump system 🔹 New windows and doors
These improvements will make Spark more welcoming, comfortable and more energy efficient year-round, while reducing operating costs and emissions. Improved insulation and heating efficiency will help us provide programs during the colder months without excessive heating costs and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
Most importantly, these upgrades will help us create a more accessible, reliable space for youth in our community throughout every season.
This is more than a renovation — it’s an investment in our youth, our community, and the long-term sustainability of Spark Youth Centre. 💚
We can’t wait to open our doors and welcome everyone into our whole new space this fall! After School Drop-in will resume Sept. 22, 2026 and a Community Open House is planned for Oct. 7th. Details coming soon.
Thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible. We couldn’t have done it without you! 🙌
