THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
A Warmer, More Sustainable Future for Spark Youth Centre ✨
It’s been a busy summer of renovations at Spark Youth Centre, and we’re so excited to share what’s been happening behind the scenes!
This project has been made possible thanks to the Columbia Basin Trust Smart Grant, along with support from BC Hydro Electrical Infrastructure Incentive Funding, RDEK REDI Grants, @WesternFinancialGroup Community Infrastructure Grant, City of Kimberley Projects Grant, Kootenay Savings Community Foundation Grant, Teck Community Investment Funding, Kimberley Elks and the RCR Community Summit Fund.
We also want to send a huge Thank You to the incredible local contractors and suppliers who put in so much hard work, helped us stay on budget, and generously provided discounts:
Elite Mechanical • High R Insulation • Denzien • Highwood Homes • Robinson Fine Finishing • Talos Drywall • LX Electric • Mardis Forest Products Ltd. • Skookum Plumbing • Sundance Window and Doors
At Spark Youth Centre, we believe young people deserve a space where they feel welcome, safe, and supported — no matter the season.
That’s why we undertook a comprehensive energy retrofit of our approximately 3,000-square-foot building, transforming the space into a more comfortable, efficient, and sustainable place for youth in our community.
The project included increased wall and ceiling insulation, improved air sealing, upgraded furnace and ducting systems, a new domestic hot water tank, LED lighting and electrical upgrades, a modern heat pump system, and new windows and doors.
While these improvements may not always be visible, their impact will be felt throughout the building — and by the young people who use it.
Better insulation and more efficient heating will help keep Spark warm and comfortable during the colder months, while reducing energy use, operating costs, and our reliance on fossil fuels. Lower operating costs mean more resources can stay focused on what matters most: providing meaningful programs, services, and opportunities for youth.
The upgrades will also help us maintain a more reliable and accessible space throughout the year. Whether youth are dropping in, participating in a program, connecting with peers, or simply looking for a welcoming place to spend time, Spark can continue to be there for them in every season.
This project is about much more than improving a building. It’s about creating the foundation for a stronger, more sustainable youth centre — one that can continue serving our community for years to come.
This is more than a renovation. It’s an investment in our youth, our community, and the long-term future of Spark Youth Centre. 💚
Thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible. We couldn’t have done it without you! 🙌
